| The episode opens... | |
| Zak | Are you kidding me? That was our third ball! How much longer is this solar recharge going to take? |
|---|---|
| Doc | It's not just the airship that needs a recharge, Zak. Your mother and I thought we could all use a little peace and quiet. |
| Zak | Yeah, but isn't that just running and hiding with a different name? When's the last time we actually helped a Cryptid? |
| Drew | Not much chance of that happening here, kiddo. I'm pretty sure we're the only living thing at about a five hundred mile radius. |
| Doc | Agent Epsilon? |
| Zak | Francis. |
| Agent Epsilon | My people have a proposition for Kur. |
| [Intro Plays] | |
| Agent Epsilon | We are in the right place to negotiate with Kur, are we not? |
| Drew | What do you think you know, Epsilon? |
| Agent Epsilon | Enough. |
| Agent Epsilon | Quite a show your son put on for the cameras in Manhattan. Did you think my people wouldn't figure it all out? Our files are very thorough. |
| Doc | You came here for a fight? |
| Agent Epsilon | Quite the opposite, Doctor Saturday. My people want to recruit Zak. |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Agent Epsilon | We can relocate your entire family, isolate and protect you from all threats. |
| Drew | Isolate and protect, huh? Tell me how that sounds different from a prison. |
| Agent Epsilon | Oh, my people don't see Zak as an enemy. The boy simply doesn't know how to control his emotions. The world already thinks he's some kind of monster. |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Francis | Hmm. Perhaps if he put a little more care into his personal grooming, they wouldn't- Ow! |
| Zak | What? I've got these clumsy monster hands. They're hard to control sometimes. |
| Agent Epsilon | Zak needs structure, a predictable existence. That's what we excel at. Francis here can teach him to control himself as well as his powers. |
| Zak | Francis? You think Francis is going to teach me something? |
| Agent Epsilon | My people decided that you would respond better to someone your own age. |
| Zak | But we don't even like each other! |
| Francis | It's true. |
| Agent Epsilon | Francis is a professional. He's smarter, more experienced, more level-headed than you. Liking one another doesn't factor in. |
| Zak | Smarter than me? He couldn't even beat jellyfish. |
| Doc | I'm with my son on this one, Epsilon. Thanks for the offer. But your people haven't given us much reason to trust them. |
| Agent Epsilon | I respect that, Doctor Saturday... but I can't accept it. |
| Doc | Zak! |
| Francis | I just sterilized these arms. Now the stink of ignorance is never going to wash off. |
| Zak | Here, let me get that spot for you! |
| Francis | Maybe I'll just get rid of the problem. |
| Agent Epsilon | Francis, this is recruitment, not elimination! |
| Doc | Everyone get clear! |
| Drew | I think we can put Epsilon's people on our groups to avoid list. |
| Doc | ...And take the Sahara off our peace and quiet list. |
| Zak | This is what I'm talking about. We can't just run forever. -can't we go find some Cryptids to help out? |
| Drew | Zak, we all want to be doing our jobs, but with everything that's going on, I just- |
| Zak | It's not about a job, Mom. I need to do some good. I need this, okay? |
| Doc | Well, let me pull up the latest reported Cryptid incidents. |
| Zak | Yes! |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Drew | All right, here's what we've got. The Turkish government started work on a geothermal power plant, but the project had to be stopped when an uninvited guest showed up. |
| Zak | A Cryptid? |
| Doc | The Lake Van Monster. |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Zak | I'm sure it's just a name, Fisk. |
| Drew | Dark rooms, deep drilled holes, lots of superheated water. It's no mystery what attracted the monst- |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Drew | ...The creature to a geothermal plant. |
| Doc | How to get a 20-ton Cryptid back to a less populated environment. That I'll classify as a mystery. |
| Drew | The well site's our best bet. This way. |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Zak | You think it knows we're here. |
| Agent Epsilon | Very dramatic. I see where your son gets his lack of self-control. |
| Doc | Zak! |
| [Act 2] | |
| Zak | Ow! Hey, stop it! Ow! |
| Francis | Oh, so sorry, but I've got these flungsy mechanical hands. They're hard to control sometimes. |
| Zak | Ow! |
| Zak | Why are you going along with this? You don't even want to train me. |
| Francis | It isn't my choice. My father and our people have decided, and they know what's best for both of us. |
| Zak | What are you, Daddy's little pet? |
| Francis | Better than Mommy's little monster. |
| Francis | Trying to hide, Zak? No matter where you are, I can find you. |
| Francis | I've lost you! What's going on up there? |
| Agent 1 | Sorry for the delay. Snake Charm 1 lost geosynchronous orbit momentarily, but we're back online. |
| Agent 1 | Kur should be directly under you. |
| Zak | So, I guess this is the well site. |
| Zak | Hey, look, I get it. I don't like people chasing me either, but- I'm here to help, okay? |
| Doc | Zak! |
| Zak | It's okay, Dad. I've already made a connection. |
| Doc | It's not the monster that's the problem. |
| Agent 1 | [Screaming] |
| Doc | The fire escape hatch, go! |
| Doc | There's no way this was just another lucky guess. They knew where to find us. |
| Zak | Snake charm one. |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Zak | They were talking about it on Francis' radio. It sounded like it was some kind of satellite. Like they figured out a way to track me. |
| Doc | Well, if that's the case... |
| Doc | Satellite receiver. Somehow they are tracking you. |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Drew | Yeah, no running from this one. As long as that satellite's active, they'll be able to find us anywhere on the planet. |
| Doc | Are we going to outer space? |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Doc | Don't get excited, boys. Neither the airship nor the Griffin is capable of Space Flight. |
| Doc | Actually, there might be a way, but it'll take both your mother and me to pull it off. |
| Drew | Wait, wait, wait. Just the two of us? And what are the boys doing in the meantime? Hanging out? Playing a little parcheesi in a kebab shop? |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Zak | Sarcasm. |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Doc | If they know we're coming. I don't think we'll have a chance. |
| Zak | So we keep the eye in the sky focused on us while you guys try to poke it out? |
| Doc | Something like that. |
| Zak | We can do that. |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Drew | Play it safe. You want to keep as much distance as possible between you and Epsilon. |
| Doc | It's all on your legs, Fiskerton. |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Drew | Just pick a straight line and don't stop driving until we get back. |
| Zak | Absolutely. All except the part you missed where we go back and help the Lake Van Cryptid. |
| Drew | What? |
| Zak | I told you, Mom, I need this. I'm not leaving until it's done. |
| Drew | Zak, I'm- |
| Zak | We'll be fine, Mom. Go. |
| Zak | Hey, Francis, I challenge you to a race, but I'm guessing Daddy doesn't let you play outdoors. |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Zak | Fisk! |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Zak | Nice try, Francis. |
| Agent Epsilon | I told you to stay by my side. |
| Francis | But I thought- |
| Agent Epsilon | |
| Drew | Satellite receiver says the signal's coming from directly above us. You know, you still haven't told me what this plan is. |
| Doc | If I did, you'd try to take the dangerous part. Wish me luck. |
| Drew | What are you-- Hey! You can't just call the dangerous part! |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Zak | No, I don't think we lost them. They have a tracking satellite! |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Zak | Whoa, it- Fisk! |
| Zak | But- look! Gah! |
| Zak | They've got us blocked! |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Doc | Come on. We just have to break the gravitational pull. |
| Drew | Doc? Doc! |
| Doc | I'm okay. |
| Drew | No, you're an idiot. Trying to break atmosphere on twin jet engines? You're lucky you're still in one piece. |
| Doc | The Griffin's frozen solid, but I'm in orbit. I should be getting a visual on the satellite any minute now. Whoa. |
| Drew | Doc? |
| Doc | It's not just a satellite. |
| Doc | Epsilon's people have a whole space station. |
| [Act 3] | |
| Doc | Made it. Barely. |
| Drew | So basically your plan was fly into space, then jump? |
| Doc | No. It also involved grabbing onto something when I got here. |
| Drew | Okay, just do what you need to do and get back to Earth. All right, genius. |
| Doc | Snake charm one. |
| Drew | What is it? |
| Doc | They've got the Naga's current detecting relic. That's how they're tracking Zak! |
| Drew | What? How do they possibly get it from? |
| Agent 2 | Don't be too angry with Doyle Blackwell. In all likelihood, he doesn't even know it's missing from his Swiss bank deposit box. You're outnumbered and you have no means of repulsion in your suit. If you lose your grip, you can be adrift in space for the rest of your very short future. |
| Doc | You stole from my brother-in-law so you could spy on my twelve-year-old son? I don't think it's my future you should be worried about. |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Zak | Hang on, Fisk, I've got an idea! |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Zak | Just give him some smoke, okay? |
| Agent Epsilon | Wait, Kur isn't with him. |
| Zak | Make it fast, Fisk! |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Zak | Yes! |
| Drew | Doc! Doc! Do you hear me? -Override the system. |
| Doc | Drew? |
| Drew | Hey, it sounds like you're in the zone up there. Oh, I wish I had a visual. |
| Doc | Almost made it to the arm. You haven't missed anything too spectacular yet. |
| Doc | What? |
| Doc | I'm afraid your trip ends here, do-. |
| Doc | Okay, now that, you should have scene. |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Zak | We can't leave town yet, Fisk. We have to help the Lake Van creature. Come on, back to the power plant while we've still got a lead on Epsilon and Francis. |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled "Say what! Are you crazy?"] |
| Zak | It's what we came here to do. I told you I need this. |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Zak | They called you a monster too, remember? That's what people do when they're scared of something they don't understand. Well, maybe just because something's powerful doesn't mean it's evil. Not all monsters are dangerous, okay? |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled "It's about you, isn't it?"] |
| Zak | No, it's not about me. |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Zak | Let's just go, okay? |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Doc | Still hovering in the same place? |
| Drew | Haven't moved. Why? |
| Doc | Please catch me. |
| Drew | Got you on the instruments. Whoa, that's fast. |
| Doc | And you thought you were stuck with the boring part. |
| Doc | Uh, Drew? |
| Drew | Wind drag, I'm compensating. |
| Doc | And I don't doubt your skill as a pilot. It's just you'll need a lot of time to pull out of that dive. |
| Drew | Honey, honey, this is hard enough without the commentary. |
| Drew | See? We even had a few feet to spare. |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Zak | Guys, it's fine. She's only a monster by name. |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled Screaming] |
| Zak | That's it, girl. We're going to get you somewhere safe. |
| Francis | How did I know I'd find you here? Gee, good question. Maybe because you've got a satellite tracking my every move. |
| Francis | Uh, actually, we don't. Someone destroyed it 17 minutes ago. |
| Zak | Weird. I wonder who could have done that. |
| Fiskerton | [Garbled] |
| Francis | Yes, yes yes, very amusing. But I didn't need a satellite to track you. It's just like the files say. You have no self-control. |
| Zak | You think I'm the one with control issues? Have you ever done anything that wasn't on Daddy's orders? |
| Zak | You're not his kid. You're his yes-man. |
| Francis | You have no idea what you're talking about. The pressure, the training, the drills. You just sit comfortably while Mommy makes you breakfast and Daddy helps you pick which uniform shirt you're going to wear today. |
| Zak | Okay, A. I made my own breakfast this morning. That's right, waffles. And B. my parents let me make up my own mind. |
| Francis | They also let you make mistakes, like coming back here when it was so achingly predictable. |
| Zak | It's okay. Just give me a second. |
| Francis | Look at you. You carelessly walk around with powers that can go nuclear at any moment. You're just a monster-loving time bomb waiting to explode. |
| Zak | Better than being a daddy's boy robot. "Yes, father. No, father. Right away, father. Whatever you say, father." |
| Francis | He isn't my father! |
| Zak | Did you-? |
| Francis | Epsilon and I are the latest in a line of serial clones. Our people found their perfect agent 100 years ago, and they've been repeating him ever since. One day I'll get to be the Epsilon, and I'll have a Francis of my own, and then I can teach him to live up to 100 years worth of high expectations. |
| Zak | Francis... |
| Francis | I don't want your pity. Like Epsilon said, personal feelings don't factor into it. This is who I was made to be. |
| Agent Epsilon | Francis, I'm en route to your location with Containment Team B. Hold the prisoner until we arrive. Do you copy? |
| Zak | Do you really want to spend the next 10 years with me in some hidden training camp? |
| Francis | I'd rather eat my own foot. |
| Zak | Well, that sounds like personal feelings to me. Look, they can tell us what they think we are. Monster, clone, whatever. But they can't tell us what we have to be. |
| Francis | It seems to like you. |
| Zak | Oh, she doesn't care about labels. She just knows I'm trying to help get her someplace safe. |
| Francis | You should probably get going then. |
| Zak | I guess it's a good thing we hate each other so much, huh? |
| Francis | I hope I never see you again, too, Francis. |
| Zak | Go on. Nobody's gonna bother you. |
| Drew | Good day for the monsters? |
| Zak | Great day for the monsters. |
